A New Venture
Holy Cow! It’s 2019 and life is crazy! My first creative outlet online other than Facebook was a blog. Since then life has taken a lot of different paths, but it is quite fitting that now I’m involved in a blog again.
My creative outlet is more of the video variety these days, but my first way of sharing my life was through my writing. My mom used to write stories when we were younger and we would sometimes sneak around and read her notebooks….not sure she even knows that. My sister still writes for a living and does a darn good job of it. She was an English teacher for several years and actually influenced me to go work at a newspaper while she was doing that. She and I both worked at the same daily newspaper for a brief few months.
We live about 24 hours apart from each other these days, but when we got together this summer we thought it would be fun to do a creative project together. So here it is and here are the rules.
Every two weeks our parents will draw a word from a bowl. They have come up with these words in advance.
Then, in the two weeks after they draw the word she will write a blog post built around that word and involving some family stories and also traveling. During that time I will also create a “vlog” or video blog about that same word.
My vlogs can’t be over 5 minutes in length.
Some other guidelines for us are that we will try to keep our blog or vlog only about our parents and our relationship as sisters. We are both mothers and wives, but we also want to maintain the privacy of our individual families.
However, our parents and each other are fair game!
We are looking at starting this project up towards the middle of January, so stay tuned and we hope you enjoy the ride with us.
